New Delhi Commonwealth Games organisers are promising to respond to heavy criticism and deliver a world class event next year.
The organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi has sought to allay concerns that the event in October 2010 is doomed to failure because of poor preparation.
Fresh doubts about India's ability to stage the event has grown since Commonwealth Games Federation president Mike Fennell sought an urgent meeting with the Indian president after criticising the organising committee.
Fennell is deeply worried about a Games coordination panel report warning of at least a partial collapse of the Games and a reluctance by India to call on foreign expertise.
However Kamaldi is promising the athletes village, transport, security and hotel accommodation will be ready before time.
