The former All Blacks captain and current Rugby Union chairman Jock Hobbs has confirmed he's fighting against leukaemia.

Hobbs told Wellington's The Dominion Post newspaper that he has been diagnosed with leukaemia but it's not acute, it's being monitored and he feels fine.

The 49-year-old, who is also chairman of the organising committee for the 2011 Rugby World Cup played 21 Tests for the All Blacks from 1983-1986 but retired after a series of concussions.
