Hockey New Zealand's received a grant of US$100,000 towards the Black Sticks women' s campaign to compete at the 2012 London Olympics.

The New Zealand Olympic Committee has supplied the funds, to be paid over four years to help the team reach coach Mark Hager's aim of playing at least 25 international matches a year, as they build towards the next Olympics.

The Black Sticks women had SPARC funding cut after a disastrous Beijing Olympics campaign but the team qualified last month for next year's World Cup in Argentina by beating Australia in the Oceania Cup played in Invercargill.
