The New Zealand Warriors have avoided some big road trips in the National Rugby League 2010 draw announced last night.
The Warriors will start and end their programme away from home but they avoid away matches at Townsville, Canberra and Wollongong.
Apart from playing North Queensland, Canberra and St George Illawarra only once - and all in Auckland - the other sides the arriors will meet once are Wests Tigers (away), the Sydney Roosters (away) and the Bulldogs (away).... of those six sides, only the Dragons and the Bulldogs made the top eight this year.
The Warriors will open next season on the Gold Coast and finish the regular season at Parramatta.
Once again the Warriors will have the first of their two byes the weekend the Kiwis play Australia in the annual early-season international. The date for the Anzac Test has been fixed for May 7th but the venue hasn't yet been confirmed.
In the opening eight rounds the Vodafone Warriors will face five of this year's top eight sides and only one of them will be in Auckland.... after the Titans first up, they meet the Broncos in Brisbane, the Manly Sea Eagles at Mount Smart Stadium in round four, the Bulldogs away in round five and the Melbourne Storm at their new home ground in round seven.
There will again be a Heritage Round - round 10 - when the Warriors will meet fellow 1995 newcomers the Cowboys.
