Younus Khan could miss Champions Trophy opener

5:59 am on 23 September 2009

Skipper Younus Khan could sit out Pakistan's opening Champions Trophy cricket match against the West Indies tonight.

Younus, who led Pakistan to their World Twenty20 victory, hurt his finger in a warm-up game and may not be risked in the Group A match in Johannesburg.

Paceman Mohammad Asif could play after a one-year doping ban ended today.

Stars Chris Gayle, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Dwayne Bravo have been left out of the West Indies squad because of a dispute over pay.

Their novice side recently lost Test and one-day series to Bangladesh, but skipper Floyd Reifer insists his side will put on an impressive performance in South Africa.

India and defending champions Australia complete the Group A line-up, with two teams advancing to the semi-finals.
