7:10 am on 24 September 2009

Last night's final netball test in Auckland was a triumph for the Silver Ferns as they trumped Australia by 16 points to avoid a fourth straight loss to the world champions, and shooter Irene van Dyk produced her best performance of the series.

New Zealand were ahead at every break, winning the second quarter by 8 points to lead by 11 at halftime, and their 52-36 win was the third biggest over Australia.

Irene van Dyk scored 33 goals at 92 percent to win player of the match in her 100th appearance for New Zealand.

Both teams made just one change to their starting sides from last Sunday's match in Invercargill.

Australia took an unbeatable 3-1 series lead into last night's match.
