The New Zealand Breakers are one of the preseason favourites for the Australian National Basketball League championship, but the club says there is no added pressure on the players.
Guard CJ Bruton and last year's league MVP Kirk Penney will give the Breakers plenty of options when they host the Cairns Taipans tonight in the first game of the season.
Breakers coach Andrej Lemanis says the players have not discussed any preseason predictions at training.
He says they have confidence in themselves being a good team but all they remain focussed on is the day-to-day function of the group.
Eight teams will play in the revamped competition and the talented New Zealand team is one of the early favourites to claim this season's title.
The Breakers' back-court is arguably the best in the league and Lemanis says his team will be hard to contain.
He says Kirk and CJ both attract a lot of attention but both of them are happy to use that attention to get their team-mates open.
