Black Caps could end South Africa's Champions Trophy hopes

The New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori insists the fate of South Africa is not a factor ahead of their Champions Trophy cricket encounter tonight.

The hosts could find themselves out of the competition if they lose to the Black Caps after losing the tournament opener to Sri Lanka.

Vettori says the prospect of dumping South Africa from the tournament hasn't played any part in their thinking, knowing they will have to be at their best if they're to beat the world's top ranked side.

New Zealand received a much needed morale boost earlier in the week when they beat India in a warm-up match, but that apart their recent form has been unimpressive failing to win a match in the recent tri-series in India and seeing their one day world ranking slump to seventh.

However New Zealand will have to without Jacob Oram and Ian Butler.

All-rounder Oram injured a hamstring in training and will have a scan to assess the damage, while fast bowler Butler is out with a stomach bug.
