New Zealand's top swimmer, Moss Burmester is keen to get his Commonwealth Games aspirations back on track.
Burmester along with the country's other leading swimmers will be in action for the New Zealand short course championships at the QEII Leisure Centre in Christchurch starting on Sunday.
The Commonwealth Games gold medallist and fourth placed at the Beijing Olympics admitted that his world championship campaign had been a speed bump in the continuous progress he has achieved over the past five years.
It will be the final national open meeting with the "shiny" suits with the new regulations coming into force on 1 January.
World championship stars will again look to advance their claims in Christchurch including Kurt Bassett (International Training Centre) and the North Shore trio of sprinter Hayley Palmer (North Shore), Daniel Bell and Andrew McMillan.
There will be a welcome return for the ITC's Melissa Ingram, the former world short course championship medallist, who has been training well since coming back after missing out on the world championships.
One missing is Glenn Snyders (ITC) who is recovering from surgery on his troublesome knee although he is back into water in light training.
Swimming New Zealand High Performance Manager, Jan Cameron is also looking to a number of swimmers who have been developing through the programmes to push themselves into early calculations as they build towards next year's all-important Commonwealth Games.
