The New Zealand cricketers have been well beaten by the home team in their opening group match at the Champions Trophy one day tournament in South Africa.
The Black Caps batted first and struggled through the first 15 overs and were all out for 214, the ony partnership of substance the 71 runs for the fourth wicket between Ross Taylor and Grant Elliot. The end of that partnership saw the last seven wickets fall for just 51 runs.
Taylor top scored with 72 and opener Brendon McCullum made 44.
New Zealand didn't include Jeetan Patel as a second spinner on a spin-friendly pitch because Jaco Oram was injured, and South Africa cruised to their target with only five wickets down, off the first ball of the 42nd over.
The Black Caps are now under pressure to beat Sri Lanka and England in their remaining group matches at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
