Eels through to NRL final

11:25 am on 26 September 2009

Parramatta are through to next weekend's NRL grand final after beating the Bulldogs 22-12 before a record crowd of 74,549 in Sydney last night.

The Eels, who mid season looked unlikely to even make the top eight playoffs, have now won 10 of their last 11 games.

However they may be without their inspirantional fullback Jarryd Hayne for the big game after he was placed on report for sliding in to a Bulldogs player with his knees.

Also possibly missing will be skipper Nathan Cayless who left teh field with a hamstring injury.

Parramatta will play their first grand final since 2001 and seek their first premiership since 1986, desperately hoping to better nine failed finals campaigns in the last 12 years.

In an opening 40 minutes of carnage, the fierce rivals tore into each other, leaving Eels prop Fuifui Moimoi on his backside in the first set of six and Bulldogs fullback Luke Patten out cold in the next.

The Bulldogs led 12-6 at the break but could not hold the offloading Eels in the second as they sealed a four-tries to-two victory with a Daniel Mortimer try.

The Broncos and Storm play tonight to decide the second finalist.
