Adelaide snap Fury's five game unbeaten run

8:30 am on 28 September 2009

The Adelaide United football team returned to form to snap North Queensland's five-game unbeaten streak with a 2-0 A-League win at Dairy Farmers Stadium.

The Fury dominated the first half but were made to pay for not taking their chances, with Lucas Pantelis scoring after halftime and Mathew Leckie grabbing his first A-League goal in injury time.

A crowd of 6,745 watched the Fury keep their opponents' goal-scoring opportunities to a minimum in the first half and create plenty of their own.

Striker Daniel McBreen had a stack of chances in a lively performance, but couldn't put any away.

A clearance kick from the Fury goalkeeper Paul Henderson found its way to the opposition in the 60th minute which allowed Pantelis to get on the ball and fire a fine low shot away to put his side ahead 1-0.

Adelaide didn't let up, with a shot from Iain Fyfe hitting the post.

The Fury attempted to rally with Jason Spagnuolo getting a good ball away to McBreen, who against skewed hit shot wide.

A fine individual goal from Leckie in the dying minutes put the score at 2-0 and the Fury's hopes of levelling the game beyond reach.
