Germany's Nick Heidfeld started the Singapore Grand Prix from the pitlane after his BMW-Sauber team discovered they had made a mistake with the weight of his car in qualifying.

Heidfeld had qualified seventh and his removal to the rear moved championship leader Jenson Button up to 11th place and his Brawn team mate and leading title rival Rubens Barrichello up to ninth on the grid.

Button leads Brazilian Barrichello by 14 points with four races remaining.
