The world golf number one Tiger Woods has topped up his bank balance by another $14 million in clinching the season-long race for the FedExCup, but was frustrated he had to settle for second place in the Tour Championship at Atlanta behind fellow American Phil Mickelson.

Woods led Mickelson by two shots going into the final round at East Lake before being outscored by Mickelson, who finished with a five under par closing round of 65, while Woods had to settle for an even par 70.

Woods returned to the PGA Tour in late February after being sidelined for eight months while recovering from reconstructive knee surgery and while he failed to win any of the four majors, he piled up six victories on the U.S. circuit, along with three runner-up finishes.
