Redmond called into New Zealand side at Champions Trophy

For the second time in the space of a few months top order batsman Aaron Redmond has been rushed into the New Zealand cricket side to replace an injured Jesse Ryder.

Ryder suffered a groin muscle injury in top scoring with 74, for the Black Caps in their win over Sri Lanka at the Champions Trophy tournament in South Africa last night.

Redmond had been in Brisbane with Otago preparing for the upcoming Champions League Twenty20

tournament in India.

In June Redmond was called into the New Zealand side at the world Twenty-20 tournament in England, when Ryder became ill.

Should Redmond play in the Black Caps final group match tomorrow against England, he'll be hoping to repeat the form he showed when he played against Ireland at the Twenty-20 tournament, scoring 63 from just 30 balls including 13 boundaries.
