A minute's silence will be observed at all provincial rugby matches this weekend as a mark of respect for the victims of the Pacific Islands earthquake and tsunami.
New Zealand rugby union CEO Steve Tew says rugby has many connections with the Pacific Islands as well as the community here in New Zealand and the thoughts of the entire New Zealand rugby community are with those affected.
The NZRU is also working with Provincial Unions to organise collections at this weekend's matches so fans can make donations to help the relief efforts.
