The Wellington golfer Mark Brown, who's had a lean latter part of the year so far, is well down the field after the opening round of the Dunhill Links championship in Scotland.

Brown has started with a four-over par 76 at St Andrews, one of three courses being used for the championship, while the Danish leader Thomas Bjorn shot a 64 at Kings Barnes to be two strokes clear of the biggest field of the year.
