Westlake Boys' High School centre Rob Loe has capped a memorable year with an outstanding display at the national secondary school basketball championships at Palmerston North.
A star for the Junior Tall Blacks at the FIBA under-19 world championships, then a Tall Black at the age of 17, he reigned supreme as the North Harbour students convincingly beat Fraser High School 76-53 in the final.
Snatching an early double-figure advantage, they never really allowed last year's runners-up back in the game with Loe dominating at both ends of the court through a full range of skills, compiling 14 points, 12 rebounds, five blocks, four assists and two steals.
