Twenty five years after winning the Sydney to Hobart yacht race, Lion New Zealand is to compete in the 2009 version.

Several of the crew members are children of those who sailed the boat to victory in 1984.

Sarah Jane Blake, the daughter of the late Sir Peter Blake, Conrad Gundry, son of Simon Gundry and Sam Cray, the son of Godfrey Cray will all be on board.

Skipper Alastair Moore says the theme is one of commemoration and celebration.

Lion New Zealand will sail from Auckland in early December, with the 1200km race beginning on Boxing Day.
