New Zealand cyclist and Olympic bronze medallist Sam Bewley has signed with seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong's new team Radioshack.

Bewley was a member of the New Zealand pursuit team which finished third at last year's Beijing Olympics.

He has spent the past year with Armstrong's development squad Trek-Livestrong and will now race with Armstrong until the end of 2011.

Bewley says he learnt of the deal three or four weeks ago but saw the contract only last week.

He says he'll be one of around 25 riders in the team, but won't be part of the eight riders who'll be part of Armstrong's Tour de France team.

He says he along with the other developing riders are likely to ride the shorter tours in the United States as team management assess their capabilties.

Bewley is back in New Zealand for a national track camp in Invercargill and will ride in next month's Tour of Southland and expects to head back to the United States in January.
