Robbie Deans will lead the Wallabies to his hometown of Christchurch for the first time during next year's Tri-Nations rugby series.

Deans has yet to win a match with the Wallabies in New Zealand after two losses in Auckland and one in Wellington during his two years in charge since moving to Australia.

In his nine seasons in charge of the Crusaders they won five Super rugby titles and he has a large personal following in Christchurch.

When the NZRU retained Graham Henry as head coach and Deans moved to Sydney some southern fans said they'd cheer for the Wallabies in Christchurch.

Meanwhile, the Wallabies will also go head to head with the NRL finals in a Bledisloe clash in Sydney on September 11.
