Canterbury have held on to the Ranfurly Shield with style, thrashing Manawatu 50-26 in their Air New Zealand Cup rugby clash in Christchurch last night.
The Cantabs dominated in every facet of play and despite the wet conditions ran the ball from both ends of the field to claim an emphatic bonus point win and cement their spot at the top of the table.
Auckland were the other victors lastnight beating the Taranaki rugby team 10-nil in a sodden affair in New Plymouth.
The win lifts Auckland to third on the points ladder with Taranaki slipping to ninth.
