Roar delay announcement on Farina future

The A-League football club the Brisbane Roar have delayed an announcement on the future of coach Frank Farina until today.

The Roar were scheduled to hold a media conference in Brisbane last night, however the club says it was postponed because of "unforseen circumstances".

Farina is serving an indefinite suspension as a result of being charged with drink-driving last Saturday.

Roar chairman Chris Bombolas says the club will not reveal the details as to why their announcement has been delayed.

The drink-driving charge is Farina's second in two-and-a-half years and speculation has grown that he will be sacked by the Roar, who are struggling both on and off the field.

The Roar is in a precarious financial situation and they were offered assistance from Football Federation Australia earlier this year, while poor attendances at Lang Park for home matches have also not helped their cause.

They currently sit sixth on the ladder with three wins from their 10 matches.

Farina, a former Australia international and Socceroos head coach, joined the Roar in November 2006 and is contracted until the end of 2010/11 season.
