Wellington's stadium sold out for World Cup play-off

The home leg of the All Whites World Cup play-off against Bahrain in Wellington has sold out.

The last 40 tickets sold on Saturday morning after sales for the match on November 14 topped 31,000 on Friday night.

The crucial World Cup qualifier will be the biggest football match ever played in New Zealand, eclipsing the national attendance record of just under 32,000 for the Wellington Phoenix's match against David Beckham's Los Angeles Galaxy.

New Zealand Football's chief executive CEO Michael Glading says they're now exploring ways of squeezing in more seats.

The tie is delicately balanced after last week's 0-0 draw in Bahrain and the All Whites need to win to qualify for the World Cup finals for the first time since 1982.
