Victoria have suffered a crushing eight-wicket loss to South Africa's Cape Cobras in their Champions League Twenty20 League Stage cricket clash in Bangalore, after the match was delayed by a security scare.
The game started 100 minutes late and was reduced to 17 overs a side after police and security staff checked the stadium twice following the discovery of a suspicious bag during a regulation security sweep.
A win would have guaranteed Victoria a semi-final spot and they now have to wait on the result of other League B matches after completing their program.
The Cobras joined Victoria on four points, a tally that could yet be equalled by India's Delhi Daredevils, if they win their two matches against IPL rival Royal Challengers Bangalore and the Cobras in Delhi.
The Bushrangers finished on 5-125 after a disastrous start in which they lost two wickets in the first over.
A number of Bushrangers produced batting cameos, but none played a major innings.
The Cobras cruised to victory with an over to spare after an early onslaught from Derek Brand (29 off 15 balls) put the Bushrangers bowlers on the back foot.
Peter Siddle (1-19) removed Andrew Puttick with his first ball and Clinton McKay (0-26) ran out Brand with a direct hit in the fifth over.
However, Henry Davids (69 not out off 54) and JP Duminy (18 not out off 23) closed the door on Victoria with a perfectly paced unbroken stand of 88.
Key bowlers Shane Harwood (0-38) and Jon Holland (0-20) were below their best and the Bushrangers fielding was uncharacteristically sloppy.
McDonald dropped a return catch when Davids was on 37 and Blizzard gave him another life on 47 by spilling the ball at long-on.
