The Hurricanes Super Rugby side are seeking clarification from SANZAR referees boss Lyndon Bray, after some strange calls went against them on the weekend.
Among the bones of contention with ex-pat New Zealand referee Steve Walsh's interpretations were two costly incidents, in the Hurricanes' 9-point loss to the New South Wales Waratahs.
The Hurricanes were denied a likely bonus point when halfback TJ Perenara was penalised for backchat near the end, while their pack were also perplexed by Walsh penalising prop Jeff Toomaga-Allen for "mucking around" at a scrum.
The All Black hooker Dane Coles sought an explanation at the time, and he admits he's still confused.
But like assistant coach Alama Ieremia, Coles says they only have themselves to blame for the loss.
The hooker says refereees can't get everything right, and he thought Walsh controlled the game pretty well.
