No sign of a let-up in yachting's America's Cup courtroom battles, even as the defender Alinghi warms up at the disputed Middle East venue.

Alinghi has now threatened to seek financial damages from its opponent, the US team Oracle, over its efforts to "derail" the event, in the latest twist in the two-year legal battle.

Oracle's opposing the Swiss team's choice of Gulf emirate Ras al-Khaimah as the venue for the duel planned for February, with a ruling from the New York Supreme Court expected next week.

Oracle described the location as unsafe and a violation of the rules.
