Mediation meeting between NZ Cricket and coach tomorrow

12:53 pm on 22 October 2009

A mediation hearing between Black Caps coach Andy Moles and New Zealand Cricket is set for tomorrow amid concerns senior players don't believes Moles is up to the task.

New Zealand Cricket has issued a statement saying that Moles is still coach of the side and is preparing it for the upcoming limited overs series against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.

Radio New Zealand has been told the mediation will take place tomorrow and that concern over Moles abilities emerged at the end of the summer during the Indian tour here.

A source says the players like Moles as a person but he's simply not up to the task technically and it's not a case of player power but rather wanting a coach that can push the players.

It's understood skipper Dan Vettori has effectively been running the side for the past six months and things haven't simply come to a head over an isolated incident.

It now remains to be seen whether following tomorrow's meeting Moles will still head away with the side, given the obvious discontent among senior players and the problems could that could ensue.
