The former New Zealand cricket coach Steve Rixon says even from afar it's easy to see things aren't right in the Black Caps camp.

New Zealand Cricket and current coach Andy Moles has resigned and skipper Dan Vettori's going to coach the side for the Pakistan limited overs series in the United Arab Emirates.

Rixon, a former Australian international, who coached the side between 1996 and 1999, says he's been disappointed with what he's seen and despite making the final of the Champions Trophy it can't mask the obvious problems within the team.

He says the side isn't peforming the basic disciplines of the game well and there are signs things aren't happy within the camp.

Rixon says he's saddened by what he sees and admits he would be interested in coaching the side again.
