Liverpool has beaten Manchester United 2-0 in the English football's Premier League to end a four-match losing streak in all competitions.

Two second half goals from striker Fernando Torres and his replacement David Ngog gave the home side a vital victory at Anfield, denying the visitors the chance to go back above Chelsea and moving Liverpool up to fifth.

United ended with 10 men after defender Nemanja Vidic was red-carded for hauling down Dirk Kuyt in the 89th minute.

Liverpool's Javier Mascherano was also dismissed in stoppage time.

Liverpool's city rivals Everton were beaten 3-2 at Bolton Wanderers.
