Can Bart win another Cup?

There are plenty of people hoping that the Spring Racing Carnival in Victoria will continue to be the Bart Cummings carnival.

The training legend, who will turn 82 next month, is on quite a run... he won last year's Melbourne Cup with Viewed, who then went on to win the Caufield Cup a fortnight ago.

Cummings added another Cox Plate on Saturday with So You Think.

Renowned as the Cups King, Cummings already has 12 Melbourne Cups to his credit and is guaranteed at least three runners in next Tuesday's race - Viewed, Roman Emperor and Allez Wonder.

One Aussie sportsbetting agency is offering punters odds of 4 dollars 50 if they think Cummings can work his magic again in Australia's most famous race and a dollar 20 if they think he can't.

The Victoria Racing Clubs Rod Fitzroy says Cummings bid to take a clean sweep of the three big races is a marketing dream for its Spring carnival.

Three New Zealand gallopers remain in the top 24 after third declarations were taken yesterday for next week's Melbourne Cup.

The Awapuni mare Daffodil is 8th in the order of entry and the northern stayers Harris Tweed and Spin Around are 12th and 24th on the list respectively.
