The Canterbury side has been named to face Hawkes Bay in the first Air New Zealand Cup semi-final in Christchurch on Friday night.

Lock James Broadhurst is unavailable due to a shoulder injury and is replaced by Samuel Whitelock.

Loose forward Ash Parker comes on to the reserves bench as cover.

In the backs, Tim Bateman moves to second-five, with Casey Laulala starting at centre.

Ryan Crotty, who started at second-five against Southland, moves to the reserves bench.

The rest of the team is the same that lost the Ranfurly Shield to Southland last week.

Friday night's match is a replay of last season's semi-final at AMI Stadium which Canterbury won 31-21.
