Former Australian international signs with Magic

The former Australian international Peta Scholz has signed to play for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic in next year's trans-Tasman netball competition.

Scholz, who's 33, played 54 Tests for Australia before retiring from international play five years ago but played an integral role in the world side's series win over the Silver Ferns in August.

It was those performances that convinced her she was still good enough to play top flight netball, having continued to play domestically.

Scholz will relocate to Mt Maunganui with husband and two children in January.

Apart from watching them on television, Scholz says she has limited knowledge of her new team-mates having only played alongside Frances Solia in the World side and against Irene van Dky at Test level.

The Magic have also signed shooter Tanya Lund, who spent two seasons with the side in the National Bank Cup in 2006 and 2007 and defender Kahurangi Waititi who turned out for the Canterbury Tactix last season.
