Vettori not feeling so much heat in Dubai

Dan Vettori doesn't feel he has to pick up any slack as the stand-in coach of the New Zealand cricketers.

Speaking at a press conference on arrival in Dubai for the Pakistan series, the Black Caps skipper admitted it was nice to get out of the country and away from the media spotlight following the weekend departure of coach Andy Moles.

The all-rounder says it's a difficult situation but the squad are professionals and they'll carry on with the job of trying to win the series.

Vettori says it's been difficult having to front it all as captain and selector with the focus on him to explain what's going on.

And he's discovered his team-mates have new respect for him now, joking that they have to step carefully around him as he now has ultimate power over them.

The first of three one day matches against Pakistan is overnight next Tuesday-Wednesday.
