The former All Black Anthony Tuitavake is off to play rugby in Japan after next year's Super 14.

The five-Test wing-centre leaves the Blues and North Harbour for a two-year contract with the NEC team.

Tuitavake made his name in sevens, winning a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 2002 in Manchester and then a world title the following year.

He played one season for the Highlanders and next season's Super 14 will be his fifth with the Blues, while he's played 82 matches for North Harbour.
