The New Zealand golfer Peter Spearman-Burn is in third place after two rounds of the Asian Amateur Championships in China.
Spearman-Burn fired a second round four-under 68 to move to third place on seven-under.
The Wellington golfer made five birdies with just one dropped shot in his round. He trails joint leaders Jordan Sherratt (Australia) and Chang-Won Han (Korea) by two shots.
The championships are being staged at Mission Hills in Shenzhen on the course to be used for next month's World Cup.
There's plenty at stake at the championships which has attracted a 117-player field including the top two ranked amateur players from each of the Asia Pacific nations.
The winner earns a place in the 2010 US Masters, while both the winner and the runners-up will play in International Final Qualifying for The Open Championship next year at St Andrews.
Hawkes Bay's Daniel Pearce was the only other New Zealander to make the cut, shooting a second round one-under 71 to be on two-over 146 in a share of 32nd place.
