Tokyo Test to decide who kicks off tour on right note

5:50 pm on 31 October 2009

All the talking's done and the All Blacks kick off their end of year tour in Tokyo tonight with the chance to clean-sweep the Wallabies 4-0 in the Bledisloe Cup series.

That record's the bright spot in an otherwise hit-and-miss year for the All Blacks, who couldn't win any of their Tri Nations Tests against eventual champions South Africa.

However the Australia coach Robbie Deans isn't phased by talk of a possible All Blacks whitewash.

The former Crusaders coach says the venue will be an inspiration to New Zealand thanks to athletics legend Peter Snell's double Olympic gold triumph.

Snell won both the 800 metres and 1500 metres races at Tokyo's Olympic Stadium in 1964.

Kick-off's around 9.30pm.

And bad news for the Wallabies with vice captain Berrick Barnes ruled out of not only tonight's Test but the whole of Australia's tour with a serious ankle ligament tear.
