A stunning strike in stoppage time has sent New Zealand through to the second round of the Under 17 men's football world cup in Nigeria.

Engin Bekdemir put Turkey ahead on 17 minutes, but despite peppering the New Zealand goal with 22 shots to seven, they couldn't add to their tally.

A 91st minute thunderbolt into the top left hand corner of the net from Jack Hobson-McVeigh then stole New Zealand a point, and a passage through to the knockout rounds.

In the other group D match, Burkina Faso beat Costa Rica to qualify in second place behind Turkey, with New Zealand progressing as one of the best third-placed sides.
