Matai remains in serious doubt for England match

The Kiwi rugby league centre Steve Matai remains in serious doubt for next weekend's match against England in the 4-nations championship because of the eye injury he suffered in yesterday's win over France.

Matai suffered bleeding in the eye and managed the flight back to Britain today and will probably have further tests tomorrow.

Team officials says he is doubtful for the match.

Matai has been told to rest for five days but the Kiwis are hopeful he will be available for the November 14th final if they qualify by beating England at Huddersfield this weekend.

Parramatta's utility Krisnan Inu is a likely replacement after being left out of the first two matches.

Leeds Rhinos-bound forward Greg Eastwood came through his return from a hamstring injury with no problems and New Zealand are confident back rower Bronson Harrison will recover from a calf problem in time to face England.
