Plunket Shield up for grabs again in NZ Cricket

New Zealand Cricket has decided to reintroduce the Plunket Shield as the trophy for the men's domestic four-day competition.

Donated by Governor-General Lord Plunket, the Shield was first played for in 1906 and was last played for in 1975... in recent years it been on display at the Cricket Museum in Wellington.

The new Plunket Shield season gets under way next week.

State Insurance has sponsored the competition the last 8 years.
