The Warriors' new captain Simon Mannering says he was called to a meeting with coach Ivan Cleary he wasn't expecting to be told he was taking over the captaincy from Steve Price.
Mannering says he was a bit nervous but once he was offered the job he was never going to say no.
The 23-year second rower says he hasn't captained many sides but he's played alongside plenty of good captains in Kiwi sides and at the Warriors.
He says he's ready to lead the club and Price has told him he'll be there to help.
Mannering missed the Kiwis Four Nations tournament in England with a knee injury.
