BMW Oracle wants more information on Australian America's Cup venue

The America's Cup challenger BMW Oracle is seeking more details on a possible Australian venue proposed for next February's cup regatta.

The Swiss cup defender Alinghi has proposed a venue on Australia's east coast for it's multi-hull clash with the Americans, after a court ruled as invalid its preferred venue in the United Arab Emirates.

Alinghi says it will name the specific venue only once the challenger agrees to the concept of it being off the Australian coast.

The Americans' yacht club has written to the Swiss saying it can't decide without knowing the precise venue.

Radio New Zealand News contacted the state major events agencies in both Queensland and New South Wales, and neither were aware of a proposed cup regatta to be held in three months time.
