The Ford driver Jamie Whincup's Championship defence is back on track with the perfect weekend extending his lead in the Australian V8 Supercar Championship after the
Island 300 at Phillip Island.
Whincup won back-to-back races to gain back lost ground over the Holden Racing Team's Will Davison and Garth Tander.
New Zealander Shane Van Gisbergen of Stone Brothers Ford, enjoyed his best effort of the season, fifth in Saturday's race and sixth yesterday to move up to 11th overall with two rounds remaining.
Of the other New Zealanders Jason Richards was 10th and 15th, Fabian Coulthard was 14th and ninth.
