Buemi staying with Toro Rosso

The Swiss driver Sebastien Buemi will stay on with the Toro Rosso Formula One team next season.

The 21-year-old has been given a second chance to prove his potential after scoring eight points to finish 16th in the championship in his debut season.

Team-mate Jaime Alguersuari is also expected to stay with Toro Rosso but a spokesman for the team was unable to confirm the Spaniard's position.

Buemi's best results were two seventh places, earned in the first race of the season in Australia and the penultimate grand prix in Brazil.

Toro Rosso used effectively the same car as sister team Red Bull, who won six grands prix in 2010 with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber.

Despite that, neither Buemi nor Alguesuari were able to match Toro Rosso's performances of 2008, when Sebastian Vettel won the Italian Grand Prix in the middle of a superb run of form in the second half of the season.
