The New Zealand men's hockey coach Shane McLeod believes he has the fire power to continue on their winning way at the World Cup qualifying tournament in Invercargil.

The Black Caps take on their biggest test to date when they meet Malaysia tonight having scored 6 goals against Wales and 8 against Scotland.

New Zealand are the highest ranked team at the tournament, and while Malaysia have caused them problems in Kuala Lumpur before McLeod believes the local conditions will help them.

He believes his defence will be strong enough to hold the Malaysians, while his strikers should cause them plenty of problems.

China are the other unbeaten team at the tournament and they play Wales today.
