The New Zealand Breakers have called in an Australian National Basketball League veteran John Rillie and dropped their American import Awvee Storey as they prepare to host the Perth Wildcats.

Coach Andrej Lemanis says the decision to bring in Rillie was made before it was decided things weren't working out with Storey.

General Manager Richard Clarke says the club needed another player at training and on stand by for Thursday night.

The former Australian representative Rillie is 38 joins a squad depleted by the continuing absence of guard Kirk Penney with a back injury and with back up centre Alex Pledger out for at least a further 3 weeks with a knee injury,

Rillie lasy played for Townsville, for whom he hit 10 three pointers in an upset win over Perth in last season's playoffs.
