11:47 am on 12 November 2009

Team New Zealand led from start to finish of its match with the Swedish yacht Artemis to win its fifth race in succession in the Louis Vuitton Trophy regatta in France by 23 seconds.

After controlling the pre-start Team New Zealand led by 15 seconds at the first mark and had extended the lead to 43 seconds on the second beat until the breeze softened.

That saw the second race of the day against Oracle abandoned and only six of eight scheduled races were completed.

Tactician Ray Davie says a win over Artemis was a good way to start the day as they're one of the tough teams at Nice.
