The Hawkes Bay golfer Doug Holloway is one shot behind the leading trio which includes Tiger Woods going into the second round of the Australian Masters in Melbourne.

Holloway, who won the final qualifying tournament at the start of the week to get into the field, was clearly the best of the 16 New Zealanders round Kingston Heath yesterday posting a 5-under par 67 to share fourth place behind Woods, South Africa's Branden Grace and the Australian James Nitties.

Three other New Zealanders Tim Wilkinson, Mahal Pearce and Michael Long had 71s to be sharing 23rd place.
