Murray beaten in Paris

A long season and a short night took their toll on the British tennis player Andy Murray who lost in 3 sets to Czech Radek Stepanek in the Paris Masters third round.

The world number four who battled for over two hours to beat James Blake yesterday, finishing in the middle of the night, started well but then made too many unforced errors.

The 22-year-old Scot, seeded fourth, joined Roger Federer on the indoor event's casualty list.

Elsewhere Russian Nikolay Davydenko qualified for the season ending World Tour finals despite losing to Swede Robin Soderling thanks to fellow contender Fernando Verdasco's loss to Marin Cilic.

Soderling and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga are still in contention for the London event.
