The Black Sticks, who had already qualified for the final, beat Austria 4-nil in their final pool match on Saturday.
Captain Phil Burrows, Simon Child and Priyesh Bhana scored in the first half, then Child tapped in a blocked attempt from Shea McAleese to put the score out to 4-nil.
Two goals in sixty seconds helped secure a place for Malaysia in the final of the qualifying tournament, as they beat China 3-nil.
The Malaysians came out after a scoreless first half scored twice in the fifth minute, grabbing a third with twenty minutes to go.
Tomorrow, Austria will play Wales will play off for fifth place in the tournament, and China will face Scotland for third.
The crucial final between New Zealand and Malaysia starts at three o'clock.
The winner qualifies for next year's Hockey World Cup in India.
